North Montpelier

New Urbanism || Seaside, Florida 

 

As the final product for the senior year capstone project at New Albany High School, this development plan for North Montpelier, Vermont was created based on the  urban design movement, New Urbanism. After studying and visiting the renowned community of  Seaside, Florida and exploring the fundamental principles of  New Urbanism, Landscape Architect mentor Stephen Caplinger guided the process of the development of this town plan. Including professional interviews, studies on walkability, land uses, topography and many precedents, this comprehensive project shows an in depth understanding of urban design and more specifically the design movement of New Urbanism.
